Is there anything more germ-ridden and disgusting than a pediatrician's office? In my opinion, no, no there is not. So when I'm taking Jane in for a well-visit like I did yesterday, I really prefer to get out of there without her contracting some gross virus or whatever. So to get her away from all of those nasty-ass waiting room toys, I let her play with my phone. Here are some of the pictures she took.

We live near the famous and fancy-pants Miss Porter's School. We are neither loaded nor famous enough to send Jane there - and that's quite alright with me.

So Jane's much-anticipated last day of daycare was today. I'm still teary, and fighting a massive lump in my throat. OK, fine - I full-on cried. But Jane? Is so ready.

Making cupcakes for Jane's last day of daycare tomorrow. Four and a half years and approx $70K later, we're done. I keep thinking about this post lately. I feel a similar one brewing now in regards to kindergarten. I have things to say to the 2007 version of Amanda.

Yesterday we hosted a cookout for some of the families we've become friends with through our nearly five years at Jane's daycare. One of the moms got all of the kids "BFFs" bracelets. It seriously made me teary. These last couple of weeks heading into kindergarten are going to be a little bit rough, I think.

I was horrified to be in a McDonald's Playland about an hour ago. Others in my family were simply delighted.

Got to visit my favorite bookstore in the state recently. I seriously think I breathe easier when I'm in there. Any bookstore, really. But this one especially.

Pro parenting tip: keep your kids' toys away from the dogs, or there will be a disturbing number of missing limbs, heads, etc. (Jane had these peeps lined up for the train.) (Hopefully the train was going to the hospital.)
