short and sweet

If you ever read the comments on this here blog, you may have noticed that my friend Dwayne has committed to commenting on each blog post I make during NaBloPoMo. He doesn't really think I can stick to my promise of participating, and knowing how much I love comments, he offered up that incentive. And, if you read his comments, you know that although they don't really make sense a lot of time, they are blog-worthy on their own.

But now Dwayne is annoyed that my posts have gotten too long, and I haven't stuck to my plan of posting quick pictures and videos on the weekend. So Dwayne, this one's for you.

imho, short and sweet is always better. case in point: flash fiction, in particular the varieties that are only a few words. these short short stories tell a complete story and are perfect for my adhd. to illustrate, i've found some examples:

ernest hemingway's shortest story ever: "for sale: baby shoes, never used."

a horror story from fredric brown: "the last man on earth sat alone in a room. there was a knock on the door…"

"the date" by sarah lyons: "how could he admit that this was not actually the first time he had seen claudia's scar? he couldn't. he would have to feign surprise."

joe r. lansdale's "the return": "they buried him deep. again."

i will admit that i spent a good deal of time trying to come up with my own short short story, but i failed miserably. this is the best i cold come up with: "there wasn't any peanut butter left. he ate a jelly and jelly sandwich."

ps: i anticipate i am going to be commenting a lot about harry potter over the next few days as i am beyond excited about the new movie that i will be seeing at 11:59pm on thursday.

pps: i've seen that video before and i hate it. cats are pure evil. and stupid.
