merry and bright

Christmas may be a month-and-a-half away on the calendar, but when you work in showbiz like we do, it can come a bit sooner. So we got in the spirit today like nobody's business. Well, some of us, anyway. And as you can see, Audrey and I were the MOST spirited, in our matchy-matchy (and totally unplanned) outfits. Happy Monday!

I did not give permission for my picture to be posted on your blog. I will now post unauthorized pictures of you on my blog to see how you like it.

this week is like christmas to me. nay, it's far better than christmas to me. why? because this is harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-1 week, aka, the movie of the first half of the last book of the best book series. ever. on thursday night i will be lining up about this time to get the best seats to see this movie at exactly 11:59pm (which is approximately 3 days, 0 hours, 48 minutes and 18 seconds from now).

i will not be dressed in costume (although, speaking from experience, there will be people dressed in costume--also, still speaking from experience, i will not be a thirteen-year-old girl, a segment of the population that tends to make up the majority of the audience at these harry potter midnight openings [yes, i intentionally misplaced a modifier earlier for humorous effect.]), but inside, i will feel like i am dressed in costume, because, as you know if you are a long-time reader of my comments, you know that i love this wizard and his wizardy world.

at this point, i could take this comment in two directions: 1) i could attempt to explain why i am so hardcore in love with these books, or 2) i could complain about something. if you know me (or if you are a long-time reader), you know which i'm going to choose.

i was re-watching several (read: all) of the harry potter movies this weekend to prepare myself for thursday night, and at one point i realized i was shouting in anger at the screen. here's why: there are times in these movies when the characters are on the verge of experiencing some painful, horrible death, and all they do is cower and cover their faces. which could be considered a normal human reaction, except these aren't normal humans--THEY ARE MOTHEREFFING WIZARDS. "pull out your mothereffing wands and cast some mothereffing spells!" this seems to happen most often in the prisoner of azkaban. for example, in one scene, severus snape (or snapey, as i like to call him) comes out of the whomping willow and sees that a GIANT EFFING WEREWOLF is about to eat harry, hermione and ron. now, i can understand that snapey wouldn't want to cast a curse--this werewolf happens to be a fellow order of the phoenix member--but at least he could cast a jinx so he could get the kids out of harm's way, but the bitch doesn't even pull out his wand. he just stands there and tries to protect the kids with his body. HIS BODY. ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?! "YOU HAVING AN EFFING WAND IN YOUR EFFING POCKET!" THIS DEFIES ALL HUMAN LOGIC AND IT ANGERS ME. ANGERS. ME. I AM LITERALLY SHOUTING THIS, SO I SHOULD PROBABLY STEP AWAY AND COUNT TO TEN.

all right, i think i've calmed down. needless to say, this behavior in the movies makes me unhappy. well, long-time readers, i am going to be commenting a lot about my excitement for the upcoming movie. future topics will include motherhood (something i am practically an expert on from reading amanda's blog), when it's okay for a man to cry (hint: while watching harry potter is an acceptable time), and why i hate harry potter (there will be a discussion of irony). don't worry, all these comments will be relevant to amanda's blog posts, but if you don't care about harry and his beautifully crafted world, i recommend you not read for the next few days (although you can still read amanda's blog, because i srsly doubt she will talk about harry potter…oh, and i suppose that is the reason the majority of you are here, right?)

ps: not only does shane look highly uncomfortable in this picture, but he also looks highly like dr. sheldon cooper.

pps: amanda, i will agree with you that this is not so much a blog comment as it is a blog entry. my apologies.

I'm sorry, but Al totally wins this one. That Christmas tree sweater is hideously festive. Emphasis on the hideous.
